Duties:
- Extension Insect diagnostician and ICPM assistant:
Compile, evaluate and analyze information to facilitate
design, creation, budgeting and implementation of
relevant IPM information delivery under various conditions
through diverse mediums to educational and public
training programmers at organizers request.
- Grantsmanship: Apply USDA funding for delivery of
High Plains IPM information, Regional Cutworm monitoring,
and innovative information delivery of Electronically-based
Cooperative Instructional Materials Project (AgXactly
training game, Lucid based High Plains IPM pest identification,
Crop Sequence Calculator).
- Insect Diagnostics Laboratory: Respond to requests
for information from industry, the public and government
agencies concerning current and past research activities
using Bachelor of Science degree in soil science,
a Master’s of Science in Agricultural Education
and 10 years of first hand experience in agriculture.
- Decision support system technology: Conduct nation
wide correspondence and visits to personally compile,
evaluate and analyze information to facilitate design,
creation and implementation of decision support systems
(Cutworm Risk Warning, Pest Recommendation Network
).
- Web site and server: Provide Web site design, maintenance
and reporting: MSU Entomology, MSU Extension Entomology,
MSU IPM, MSU Pesticide Applicator training, Western
Region IPM Cutworm survey, High Plains IPM Guide,
Ag Notes.
- Montana Crop Health Reports, Citable Electronic
Newsletter: Edit, Design and Layout of bi-monthly
Montana Crop Health Report, a citable newsletter,
published from April through September for Montana
producers, county agents, consultants, and agribusiness.
- Regular Outreach activities: Conceptualize, organize
and support Agent and Producer/CCA training opportunities
(Crop Pest Management School, Agronomic Training,
Pest Management Training). School IPM information
to annual Ag in Montana School workshop. Periodic
Outreach Activities: Middle School Teacher and Student
training.
- Museum IPM program: Respond to requests by Museum
organizations and community groups for information
about how to protect historical artifacts into perpetuity.
