Launching a new program at a public university requires the involvement and investment of our local ranching industry. 

The Dan Scott Ranch Management Partners Program provides leaders in the ranching industry the opportunity to invest in the program and connect with campus leadership and our extraordinary students.

You have the opportunity to provide foundational support to help create the preeminent ranch management program in the Northern Great Plains and Intermountain West. Partner investment priorities include 3 critical areas: current use fund for greatest need, student scholarships and program and faculty development.

Partnership Levels

  • Opportunity to offer an internship to a student in the program;
  • Individual meeting with program leader, department head or dean to discuss program updates;
  • Participation in career development activities for students such as hosting a workshop at your ranch or business, giving a guest presentation in coursework, and interviewing students for job placements;
  • Named scholarships for students in the program;

Naming Opportunities: Leave A Legacy

Leave a legacy through naming a part of the Ranch Management Program at Montana State University. The innovative program will sustain and preserve the agricultural heritage of the Northern Great Plains and Intermountain West by graduating students who have the breadth of knowledge and diversity of skills needed to employ prudent ranching practices that create value and improve the natural resources vital to our land.

These funds will be used to develop and maintain a highly structured and learning outcome-oriented internship program. The internship program will be vital to the systems level learning approach.

These funds will be used to develop a continuing education program in cooperation with MSU Extension. This program will serve to provide continuing education to graduates and Montana ranch managers in the form of workshops, seminars, and distance-learning opportunities across Montana.

These funds will be used to support key speakers and short course instructors. The main focus is to provide current information and best practices on topics of importance to the ranching industry by regionally and national known experts.

Founder’s Circle donors will have perpetual recognition of founding a program that creates a pipeline

of future ranch managers with the skills and expertise to have a tremendous impact on sustaining the agricultural heritage of the Northern Great Plains and Intermountain West. The Founder’s Circle will be limited to seven members and only four opportunities remain.

Funds for scholarships are available to MSU in support of an enrolled student for the purpose of off-setting tuition, fees, charges levied by MSU and other expenses associated with advancing their education and research.
